ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Environmental Protection


The International Standards Organisation provides a clear way of identifying the auditing the Environmental Aspects of the Maritime Industry. This specific management system is a useful tool for ensuring the ships comply with the requirements of MARPOL, Bunker Convention and local, regional and international environmental law. The course will look at the aspects and impacts of environmental operations and the objective evidence needed for an audit.

All staff, ashore and afloat, should have familiarisation and awareness of its provisions.

AIM

The Aim of this two-day Internal Auditor Course is to provide analysis of ISO 14001 provisions, methodology and application, and experience in auditing a shipping company or ship to ensure compliance.

  • identify the five phases of a structured quality system internal audit
  • identify the important factors when preparing an audit schedule
  • prepare an internal audit checklist
  • conduct audit interviews and examine documents to obtain objective evidence
  • prepare a statement of non-compliance/observation and finding/comment
  • prepare and present verbal and written audit report
  • carry out follow-up audits.
