International Ship & Port Facility Security Code Awareness


The International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Ship & Port Facility Security Code was one of the major events of 2004. As it now is in operation and company's Security Plans are settling in it is now time to visit the familiarisation and awareness of its provisions for all company personnel.

AIM

The Aim of this one-day workshop is to provide a straightforward and uncomplicated view of the ISPS Code that can be adapted for use in either the Ship operations or Port Facility environment.

OBJECTIVES

On the completion of the ISPS Awareness Workshop, participants will be able to:

  • identify the reasons behind the introduction of ISPS Code

  • identify the general purpose of the ISPS Code

  • explain the purpose of security management

  • identify the sections of ISPS Code relevant to ship/port facility

  • understand main aspects of the ISPS Code

  • describe PFSP/SSP procedures for Security Levels, declaration of security and associated documentation

  • identify the roles of SSO, CSO and PFSO

  • understand how the system is managed, monitored and maintained

  • Understand the importance of drills and exercises

  • Understand the responsibility & authority of the Master
