International Safety Management Code Awareness
The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) International Safety Management Code (ISM Code)
has been operating for a number of years and perhaps its time to revisit the
familiarisation and awareness of its provisions for company personnel.
AIM
The Aim of this one-day workshop is to provide a straightforward and
uncomplicated view of the ISM Code.
OBJECTIVES
On the completion of the ISM Awareness Workshop, participants
will be able to:

Know the reasons behind the introduction of ISM Code.

Understand the general purpose of the ISM Code.

Know the functional requirements

Understand the purpose and importance of written procedures
and processes

Understand the importance of drills and exercises

Know about the role of the DPA and the responsibility it
carries.

Understand the responsibility & authority of the Master

Recognise the importance of qualification and training at sea

Understand the need for familiarisation

Know what constitutes an audit
-
Know where the SMC and DOC are sited
-
Identify how the Company’s system has
implemented ISM requirements
-
Name Procedures that are used regularly within their own company
-
Outline their role in an emergency
